in my future loft (yes, i will have an amazing loft), i am going to have huge windows with a view like this. it’s weird – before today i didn’t care about having nice views, but man.. how could one not want this??

so just as a bit of a background: i love watching QVC. it is a home shopping channel that sells everything from skin care products to vacuum cleaners. i don’t really remember when i started watching it, but i think it has been roughly seven years or so. i usually just have it on in the background – unless it’s an electronics or beauty product show (boooring). i have been watching it for so long that i know all the hosts, too! unfortunately my favorite host, lisa mason, left QVC last year, but i am slowly getting over the loss. hehee

i have only ever bought two things from QVC. a jewelry organizer by lori greiner (please excuse the crappy cell phone shot):

it is supposed to keep your jewelry tarnish-free for 25-40 years! wow! .. it doesn’t work. my silver jewelry tarnished well within a month. boo. so i bought that about four or five years ago and am still using it just because i’m too lazy to buy another one and organization-wise it’s pretty helpful.

the second thing i bought was a bangle set by joan rivers – whom i love love love – and wrote about here. the bangles were nice, but probably not as nice as i would have wanted them to be for the price i paid. so, i have yet to buy another item from QVC and doubt i will for a long time.

whew! so now that you know my love for the channel (but maybe not the products), here is my trip to QVC in pictures:

unfortunately they didn’t let me take any pics once we got into the private part of the studios so there are no actual “tour pics” above. but overall, the visit was amazing. the tour was really fun and informative. i got to go behind the scenes and even be in the same studio as the live recording! i was really disappointed by the store itself, but that was only a minor part of the visit!

the lights are beautiful, but is it bad that i’m kind of disgusted by how many people there are in this tiny cramped city? sigh* i love nyc, and i never thought i would say this, but i think it may just be about that time to get out of here..

i havent been to t.j.maxx in a while, but usually when i go, i go straight to the juniors section and shop. then shoes. then maybe the petite section. oh, and of course, bags + jewelry.

but today, i went in and went straight to the men’s section. but on the way there was distracted by the swimming stuff they had and picked out a snorkeling goggle set that i thought L might want. then went to the men’s section and picked out a navy blue polo shirt since L said he needed one. i didnt even look at the girls’ clothes. it was weird.but L, aren’t you lucky!! dx

hahaa but then i eventually made my way over to the shoe section.. but didnt buy anything!

i know i am so against the idea, but i feel like i wouldn’t mind being a housewife.. as long i have a sh*tton of money and i can go shopping all day long.

i <3 shopping. boo where’s my millions of $?!?!

so after many many months of contemplating if i should or should not, i finally splurged on the anthracite shopping tote:

this is the picture of the bag they used to have on their website. i like how the inside is still brown and the color is a really pretty goldish silver color. but just bc i wanted more info, i asked for another photo, and they sent me this (which is now on their website):

so the color is much more silver in this picture. and you can ignore the red/green reflecting lights. so i said alright let’s do it!

when i received the bag, they sent me the wrong one (5″ instead of 8″ handles). so i had to send it back in order for them to send me the right one. which they did. things i noticed: it was very flimsy. it had no structure. that’s okay. and the inside is also a grayish color. fine. it sheds. i can deal with that. but after a couple of uses, i started noticing these spots on the outside of the bag:

i think you can see them better in the second picture. anyway, i contacted them again and after two weeks, no sign of a new bag. they apparently sent it to somebody else who lives in a totally different part of ny but has the same name as me. good job, clare vivier + co! so one week later i finally have my THIRD replacement clare vivier bag. jeez. so stressful! they told me the rubbing off is not normal and that was a quality control issue on their part (in addition to many other issues, apparently). but here is my new bag:

i don’t know if you can tell from the pics, but this one is a more muted metallic and darker gray. also, the tails of leather that are connected to the straps are no longer loose and flapping around – they decided to sew them together underneath the bag:

i am not sure yet if i like it this way or not. i guess the good thing is i dont have to worry anymore about them folding underneath the weight of the bag when i place it on a chair or something. as always, though, i love the grain of the leather and the smell of the bag. sniff*:

hehee did you take a sniff?? i <3 the smell of leather. i really truly hope i no longer have to contact them with any complaints/problems. i am really sick of dealing with them and all in all my experience with them has not been that great. i guess i cannot complain since they did exchange my bag accordingly, but as i’m sure all of you know, packing and sending things is not fun. not to mention i only got one return shipping fee refunded. meh.

anyway, i really like vivier’s stuff - i’m just weary of it now that i have a bag of hers. i feel like perhaps the quality is going down because she is becoming more popular and in demand.

anybody else have a weary online/phone shopping experience?

every morning they cooked us breakfast – i think i loved their baked goods more than the actual food they made us, but overall the food was delicious. they also left us an evening snack on our beds before we returned from a fun day out. here are some snapshots of the food at the inn:

L and i went to west chester, pa this past weekend to visit QVC! among other things.. ( : it was so much fun and i had a great time!! L gave me this trip as a bday present. hehee we got to our B&B really late on friday night and came back on monday afternoon.

L’s bro D brought us L’s jeep so we got to ride her and all her glory to PA and back. it was great since the AC doesn’t work in that car and it was around 90° the whole weekend. boo.. hehee here is a sneak peak of the jeep at a dairy queen pit stop near downtown west chester:

i think it’s really pretty!! so then i went down to a yarn store called smiley’s. a woman had told me that they have discount yarn! and i scored a few skeins of this really cool wool/viscose blend tweed:

i love the specks of colors. it reminds me of funfetti! hehee and i also learned that these go for ~$8 retail and i got them for $3 a skein. sweeeeet. i kind of want to go back there and buy bags and bags of this same yarn since they have it with different solid colors (but still with specks).

here’s where i am now, after about four/five hours of knitting:

kind of sad how little progress i have made, but give me a break! each round has 220 stitches!! hehee my arms are sore..

at the end of my trip to jamaica (in january), L and i were shopping around the MBJ airport waiting for our flight. they had a havaianas store so i stopped in. i bought a pair of their “fit” shoes:

except i had a jamaican flag glued onto the shoe for custom glamour. hahaa. it was free of charge! and then i decided that every time i go on vacation i will buy a pair of havaianas with that country’s flag on it. woohoo!! more ways to spend my money.

fast forward to today..

due to inclement weather (as you all know), i haven’t been able to wear these flip flops until today. and i must say, they are very comfy! i think they have a tad more flexibility, cushion, and arch support than the normal havaianas flip flops. HOWEVER, i noticed that my right foot’s big toe sometimes hits the bare ground. yuck. not something you want happening in nyc. so today, out of curiosity, i just compared the two shoes sole-to-sole. and.. guess what?

THE RIGHT SHOE IS HALF AN INCH LONGER THAN THE LEFT.

i mean, what?? i thought this was a reputable brand! where is your quality control?!?! sigh* i guess it’s tolerable.. i’m just a tad bit ocd about little things like that so it bothers me. but i’ll get over it. but super annoying!

so in the future if you ever buy havaianas shoes – make sure you compare the two before you buy!!
