as most of you know, i am a huge QVC fan (hehe). i watch it whenever i turn on the tv – which isn’t too often, mind you. and i love just relaxing on the couch and staring at my favorite hosts rambling on and on and telling me to spend my hard-earned money on their “limited edition” products which they only have 30,000 of to go around. O :
but anyway, through QVC, i met joan rivers. i had never really heard of her before, but while listening to the hosts talk about her and her talking about herself, i learned more about her. you guys probably know her as that really old woman who got tons and tons of plastic surgery. this is true! but did you know that she is also a very successful 75-year-old comedian and still going strong?? she was one of the first women comedians and paved the way for other females to succeed and be recognized in the business. whenever she is on QVC to sell her jewelry, handbags, clothes, whatnot, she is very funny and so down-to-earth. really makes me want to be her friend in real life. and i can’t believe she’s so old!! the plastic surgery really masks her age.
so i heard about a documentary about her called joan rivers: a piece of work that came out earlier this year and i’ve been wanting to watch it. but of course i’m not going to go out and buy it on DVD. come on, i’m cheap. so i waited and today being christmas eve and all, i was SO BORED so checked netflix! and it’s watch now! so i watched it..

and i LOOOOOOVED it. it was really well made and i wished it were longer (it’s about an hour and a half)! it really delves into her real life and why she is the way she is (at least from some angles) and it really made me respect her more. she’s much more than just botox injections..
i was so inspired by her movie that i promptly went to the QVC website and bought a piece of joan rivers jewelry. hahaa. and i have never bought anything from QVC, as much as i love watching it (okay, once during college, but that’s it).

the picture isn’t the best quality (i hope it’s better in person), but they’re four bangles with swarovski crystals. each of the bangles is a “shade of gold”: chocolate, rose, white, and yellow (obvi not real gold). it was kind of expensive even if it was from the clearance section, but it was a treat for me and a tribute to joan – although we all know she does NOT need it because omgosh her penthouse in nyc is amaaazing.
i highly recommend that you guys watch it! and if you have netflix, it’s watch now!! ( : oh, and after purchasing the bangles, i went credit card crazy and FINALLY bought my clare vivier bag!! congratulations. to me.
now i can walk around nyc with J with matching bags!! ^.~ can’t wait.
another thing you should watch: prep and landing. there are two episodes – one from 2009 and one from this year and they’re both on hulu! they’re christmas shorts from pixar. looove!! they’re really clever, cute, and funny. so if you’re a pixar fan, you must watch!!
i hope you guys have a very merry christmas!
